Bauchi State Specialists Hospital

The Bauchi State Specialists Hospital (BSSH), was established by a law cited as the Bauchi State Specialists Hospital law of 2018, and came into operation on the 19^th day of December 2018. However, the Hospital started by the colonial masters as a leprosarium in 1917. In 1960, government converted it to General Hospital and in 1979, it was upgraded to autonomous Hospital with the name State Specialist Hospital, in 2010, it was converted to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi, the BSSH continued its operations at three temporary locations and on 23^rd March, 2015, the newly constructed Specialist Hospital complex (current site) was commissioned

2010

Converted to ATBU

In 2010, it was converted to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi, the BSSH continued its operations at three temporary locations and on 23rd March, 2015, the newly constructed Specialist Hospital complex (current site) was commissioned

Mission and Objectives

The main mission and objectives of the Hospital are . To provide a conducive environment for workers, patients and their relations To employ qualified and appropriate number of personnel to provide selfless and efficient services to its clients in an atmosphere of teamwork and unity of purpose c) To utilize its human, material and financial resources judiciously, efficiently and effectively for maximum results d) To cultivate and encourage community participation towards the development of the Hospital and its resources.

Function and Responsibility

The Hospital has the following functions

Provide efficient and affordable tertiary and secondary health care services as well as other health services in all fields in compliance with the guidelines set up by approved regulatory bodies in services
Provide training for House Officers, internship training for Pharmacists, Medical lab Scientists, Physiotherapists as well as other allied Medical Professions.
Provide training for Nurses and Continuing Medical education
Provide postgraduate training for Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, Medical lab Scientists and other related professionals.
Undertake Research in all fields of medical health care services
To do such activities it considers necessary or incidental to it functions under the law.
